Bacteriologist, PhD in Biological Sciences from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and Associate Researcher at Colciencias. The emphasis of their research has been focused on the search for new medicines of plant origin (phytomedicines), which have immunomodulatory activity and that contribute, on the one hand, to the control of the immune response in chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and in other diseases as in cancer, they favor the antitumor immune response.
He currently has several publications in indexed journals and an invention patent based in Colombia and the United States. She has worked in different educational scenarios as a teacher and scientific adviser at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and at the Juan N Corpas University Foundation; likewise, in entities of the public sector such as the University Hospital of La Samaritana and the Secretary of Health of Bogotá.
At this time from the academic sector, has been working on two research projects in medicinal Cannabis, one associated with the immunomodulatory activity of this plant in polarized macrophages (M1-M2), obtained from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the second, linked to the identification of genetic polymorphisms of the CB1 and CB2 receptors in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and their association with the immune response induced by extracts of Cannabis with different contents of THC: CBD.
