Charlie Schmidt, PhD

Charlie joined PerkinElmer as the business development lead providing expertise in LC/MS marketing and applications. He comes to PerkinElmer from Varian. While at Varian He served as a Marketing and Applications chemist, Global mass spec trainer and US sales manager. Charlie came to Varian from Thermo Finnigan where he was the manager of the Thermo Finnigan Training Institute and Demo laboratories. For ten years prior to joining Finnigan, Charlie was a faculty member at the University of Florida in the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences. He taught Organic Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry to Environmental Engineering Students. He was also responsible for the Analytical Services Mass Spec Laboratory. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Catawba College, a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska, and most recently worked on his PhD with Dr. Rick Yost, the co-inventor of the triple quadrupole mass spectrometer.
