Steve DeAngelo, a globally recognized cannabis leader, was dubbed “the father of the legal cannabis industry” by former Speaker of the California Assembly Willie Brown.

Steve is a lifelong activist, author, educator, and entrepreneur who has spent over four decades on the front lines of the cannabis reform movement. His most notable business achievements include co-founding the Harborside dispensary group, which includes one of the first six dispensaries licensed in the United States; Steep Hill Laboratory, the first cannabis analytics company; and the Arc View Group, the first dedicated cannabis investment network. Most recently he founded, FLRish, Inc., one of California’s largest vertically integrated cannabis companies. FLRish cultivates, processes, manufactures, distributes, and retails cannabis products in several facilities throughout the state.

Steve is also the author of The Cannabis Manifesto, and originator of the wellness approach to understanding cannabis. He played a key role in the passage of Initiative 59, Washington DC’s medical cannabis law; the passage of Prop 64, California’s adult use law; and successfully defended multiple legal attempts by US federal authorities to shutter the doors of Harborside.

Steve believes that a profitable, ethical, politically engaged cannabis industry will be the most powerful force in spreading cannabis reform to every corner of the planet. He will not rest and he will not stop until the last cannabis prisoner is free.

Steve DeAngelo is a national cannabis activist, educator, thought leader and entrepreneur who has been on the forefront of legalization for more than four decades.

He is the co-founder and CEO of Oakland-based Harborside, the largest medical cannabis dispensary in the United States, President of the Arcview Group, and CEO of Flrish Inc.

In 2006, DeAngelo co-founded Steep Hill Labs, the first commercial cannabis lab in the country and a world leader in cannabis science and technology. In 2010, he began focusing his attention on the cannabis financial sector. As co-founder and president of The Arcview Group, the preeminent cannabis industry investment and research firm, DeAngelo is dedicated to galvanizing political change by empowering a responsible and sustainable cannabis market.

DeAngelo’s rise as a cannabis business mogul started with the peace movement in the ’70s. He was a lead organizer of the annual Yippie Fourth of July Smoke-In in Washington D.C., and in 1998 he spearheaded efforts to legalize medical cannabis in D.C. DeAngelo moved to California’s Bay Area in late 1998, where he has since become an integral part of the burgeoning cannabis community.
